OHMYLANTA! This week started off passing by so fast but when we hit Thursday everything seemed to move in slow-motion. Here's how my week went.
Monday: I used my Christmas money to buy argentine recuerdos and gifts in this cute argentine leather store :) Other than that not much happened
Tuesday: While we were doing morning exercises i heard a weird noise coming from the kitchen area, so i went to see what it was. I opened the door to the washing room and i saw THE FREAKING MOUSE!! And Then i SCREAMED! My companion almost died trying to get up and get to the kitchen. ANd i was screaming "HERMANA!!!!THE MOUSE THE MOUSE!" And she was like "Shhhhh! We have neighbors and it´s not even 7 in the morning!" and i was like "I DON´T CARE! THERE IS A MOUSE AND I SAW IT!" So we grabbed a tray, put rat poison on it, stuck it in the washing room, slammed the door shut and locked it up. Every now and then i opened the window to look inside, saw it, and started to scream again. It was an interesting morning. THat afternoon we visited with some members and made some plans to meet their friends, neighbors, and family members. Oh and my companion was blessed(or cursed, not sure which one) with luck by some gypsies. It was interesting.....
WEdnesday: Not much really happened. We heard a lot of oldies songs in the street like "The tide is high" "Wake me up before you go-go" And another one i can´t remember. Also we saw a truck that said "Kentucky, The best Pizza." And i was like, "NO! KENTUCKY HAS THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN!" We also saw kids playing with a football. We had to do a double take because that was the FIRST time i have seen that in all my time in Argentina.
Thursday: We went to San Fernando for the meeting for those who leave in February, March, And May. Dan Clark, a famous motivation speaker and friend of President Ayre skyped us and it was basically a Keep on working to the end pep talk. But it was WAY GOOD and WAY SPIRITUAL! ANd yes i did cry. THen we had a self-sufficiency class form a senior sister missionary from the area office. It was interesting. I decided to be self-sufficient i´m either going to raise chickens, or make bricks :P JK! BUt it was good. We got back late. Met some new people but nobody that was interested. BUT! In the collectivo i Saw a guy with a Carolina Panthers SNapback and I got really excited! THAT´S MY HOOD!
Friday: That day was crazy. We had a meeting/interview with the zone leaders and then lunch and then we had to do weekly planning SUPER Quick. THen we went and visited a girl who recently moved here from Bolivia. She has less-active family members and a brother that came with her who isn´t a member. So we made a plan with her to meet him. He turned 20 that week so we made brownies and "popped by" He had some good questions such as "DOes GOd really exist" and "How do you know that your church is the true church?" SO we taught Lesson one with a big focus on the Book of Mormon (Because i LOVE the Book of Mormon and know that it can answer ALL of the questions we have!) SO we are hoping to see some progress there. WE also met some other people name Juan Pable and Griselda. They also recently came from Bolivia.
Saturday: We had to go clean the church that morning, SO we put on our service clothes. WHen I put on my jeans, THE BUTTON BROKE! I don´t know if it was because they were goodwill jeans i´ve had for almost forever or because i need to lose some weight.... So we cleaned the church, changed, trued to visit some less-actives and didn´t find ANYBODY! SO we went to lunch and the sister had barely started so we helped her to speed things up because we had a meeting to go to after. SO we helped her cook, ate super fast, and we left flying to the meeting. It was good. Came back and we had an appointment with a member family to meet some of their friends. We came by right when they let in this man and we were all excited because we thought he wasn´t a member but it turned out to be a less-active from the elder´s area. THey said that their neighbor had to run an errand and would be back soon. SO we waited and waited... He showed up about an hour and 15 minutes later and then we had to wait another 45 minutes so that their friends could come too. So it was 8:15 and we shared the video "Gracias a ÉL" The members shared their testimony, then we asked their neighbor what he thought. He said he wasn´t very religious right now, that the video was nice but he doesn´t feel the need to get closer to GOd or Jesus Christ. SO we testified about how we ALL need Christ. THen I, for some reason thinking that the other friends were members, asked them how Having Faith in Christ has helped them in their family. THe dad said "We aren´t believers." AWKWARD!!!! SO we just testified of Christ and had to leave to get home in time. That night after planning I just laid on the floor exhausted. I looked at my companion and said "I feel like a.........beached whale!" She just looked at me and started laughing! THen she asked my why. I told her it was because my body felt so heavy, that i couldn´t get up. We laughed for a good while about that. Oh and i cut my bangs again :)
Sunday: We went by to bring our investigators to church, BUT NOBODY CAME! It was a bit sad, but GOd sent us something to make us laugh :) We were knocking the door and i saw a guy walking towards the sidewalk, but i didn´t pay any attention so i turned around to knock the door again and waited. THen i saw out of the corner of my eye that the guy stop right behind me. SO i turned around and he looked at me and said "Over there too." I looked at him confused and was like "What? WHere?" THen i realized he was drunk. He said "Over there, GO and Preach." My companion was trying not to burst out into laughter. So I said "Okay Thank You" THen he was like "Okay" And just walked away. We both just started to laugh really hard. So we went to church and we had to teach the gospel principles lesson so for the first hour we found an empty room and passed over the lesson. It turned out good, thanks to the participation of the class members. Then we helped the Elders with their baptism. That afternoon we were able to talk to a LOT of people. It was a good day. Except for the fact that i turned 16 months in the mission. I forgot about that until my companion in church whispered to me "Feliz cumplemes!"
But yeah we are good, I´m happy and determined to keep working hard until the end!
Love you all
Hermana Allison Scarlett
P.S. The computers won´t read my memory card so i can´t send pictures :(
OH! THe mouse, I forgot to tell you what happened to the mouse. WE gave it poison several times a day and yesterday it didn´t eat the poison so we searched in the washing room thinking we would find it dead. But it wasn´t there... Yeah we are super confused but we hope somehow it left and died somewhere else :)
